I'm a Beginner...Why Should I Worry About Keyword Learning?

So, why worry about keywords, learning optimization tricks or keeping up with Google's search algorithms? Maybe, you're a beginner in the world of websites and the internet and just want to create something meaningful for yourself to share with the world. At this point, you probably have a general understanding of what keywords are, but you're not sure what all the fuss is about. It may surprise or shock you to learn that people make careers out of doing keyword research. After reading this article, you'll understand why keywords are so important, and why they're especially important to beginners in the internet arena. Through free articles and forums like this, you can save yourself years of frustration by familiarizing yourself with a few key concepts about keywords and how they relate to the success or failure of websites and online business and marketing. Let's begin by exploring why keywords are important.

Keywords: Why Do They Matter?

Let's say you just spent several weeks or months designing and developing a website. Maybe you paid a graphic artist or professional web developer thousands of dollars to build the site to your exact specifications. Perhaps, you're computer savvy and did the work yourself. In either case, most websites have hundreds or even thousands of hours involved in getting them online and running. After the site's creation, there's money to spend on domain names, web hosting, advertising and ongoing maintenance. If you paid an outside service to create your site, you may be required to pay them each time you want to add content or edit a page. If you do the work yourself, the time commitment will be obvious. So what does any of this have to do with keywords? Look back at all the hard work, time, money and skills involved in your website's creation. How would you feel if nobody visited your site? What if you had an amazing product, or cutting edge, world-changing information to share and nobody knew you existed? That is exactly what will happen if you don't understand keywords. Your website would be useless to you and your target audience.

Why learn a new language? Aren't keywords just common sense?

Simply put, keywords are the key words people use on the internet to find everything. If your not using keywords properly, your website will sit in cyberspace without receiving any visitors. To illustrate, what if your site advertised car repairs and you didn't realize that 99% of internet users preferred the term auto mechanic when searching for car repairs. They'd never find you because your site would be invisible to them. To make matters worse, the internet creates world-wide competition for your keywords. Back in the old days, before there were websites, people used the phone book, yellow pages or newspaper ads to find products, people or services. These advertisements or listings were grouped by keywords. If you paid for a listing, you were included. If you were searching for an auto mechanic, you simply searched under auto and continued down through the various subcategories until you found auto mechanic. The process was simple. Unfortunately, the world wide web is a bit more complicated. On the internet, search engines are the equivalent of a world-wide phone book for bringing people, products and information together. Just for fun, lets type auto mechanic into the Google search box and see what happens. This keyword query returned 3,010,000 results. Essentially, that translates to three million, ten thousand pages on the internet competing for the keywords auto mechanic. Wait. Actually, it means three million, ten thousand pages that are indexed by Google are competing for those same search terms. For every indexed site, there are countless sites that haven't yet made it into the Google index. These sites may show up later, or never, if they don't understand how to use keywords properly to generate visitors to their site.

Depressed? Overwhelmed yet? Keep reading, the good news is coming... I promise.

Now, I realize it seems impossible to hope for any substantial visitors with millions of competitors out there. The truth is, it's not impossible or a matter of random luck. It all comes down to proper search engine optimization. Keyword research and implementation is an integral part of search engine optimization. It's probably the most important part. Without the proper keyword strategy, nobody will know how to find you.

Now, here's a bit of good news. Many sites aren't doing all they can to rank well for their important keywords. Some sites are doing nothing! Many sites don't know or understand why they rank well for certain keyword terms. Many are sitting there in the search results waiting to be overcome by someone like you and they don't even know it. You can eliminate a lot of the competition by taking proactive, manageable steps toward higher search engine rankings.

So, how do I stand a chance with all this competition?

Think about this. Almost everyone you know has a company website, personal website or blog. This week, find out how many of your friends have a Facebook page. Just for fun, ask them what they do to optimize it. Most will look at you like you have three heads. Of course they don't do anything to advertise or optimize their Facebook page. Do you know why? Facebook does all the work for them. Fortunately, or unfortunately...there are tons of websites in the search results that sit there and think their work is done. They assume there's a Facebook-like entity scurrying around, somewhere in the background, looking out to preserve their world wide web real estate value. Ask any business owner if they have a website and they'll look annoyed and say, "yeah, I have a website." They'll be thinking, "of course I have a website. After all, I'm a business owner. Everybody knows you have to have a website." Next, ask them how it's doing. Most likely, they'll look at you suspiciously for asking. The great news for you is they probably left their keyword research and search engine optimization in the hands of the graphic design firm that created their site. After all, they did spend five grand. It must be a done deal. Ask that same business owner how many unique visitors they receive a month and they won't even know where to look to find out. They'll probably say their web designers handle all of that. In a nutshell, this is your good news. This is your opportunity to beat the competition. Millions of competitors can be taken out of the equation by using targeted, specific, repeatable actions.

Now, take the first step.

You can begin your online presence from a position of strength. You can proactively educate yourself about keywords and how they fit into your own, unique search engine optimization plan. You can decide today, to learn how to choose the right keywords and use them for your greatest benefit. You can learn how to beat the competition for your important keywords. Without leaving it up to chance, you can get your website indexed and watch it rise through the search engine ranks until you've landed on the first page of Google. You can get there by your own, precise, dedicated effort.

If you'd like to know how to streamline and automate the ever-challenging task of keyword research, this automated keyword tool does all the hard work for you.

Good information about keywords. Surely keywords are THE most important factor in improving your website's SERP. Also there are many ways to improve our SERP for a particular keyword, the most important being having a good collection of Web 2.0 properties with our targeted keyword. It really makes sense to dominate all the Web 2.0 properties with the keyword which we want to rank good. So even if our main site doesn't rank well for that particular keyword we could at least have it ranked for our Web 2.0 properties which already have a good trust by Google. Then just direct the traffic from those Web 2.0 properties to your main site. This also adds some credibility to your main website. Thus it is very necessary to have good Web 2.0 properties with the perfect keyword.
